If you're listening to this podcast you've probably heard it said that Nonvolatile memory express (NVMe) is the future of storage. The goal is to give flash drives in a storage network the same I/O speed as one connected directly to a computer via PCIe. This week John and I bring on Flash expert Dave Edwards to walk us down the stack a bit and talk NVMe vs. SCSI, Flash endurance, Latency consistency, power loss protection, and all kinds of nerdy flash stuff (3D Crosspoint and persistent DIMMs).
Dave Edwards is a Systems Software Engineer with extensive expertise in product development including both software and hardware engineering. His professional goal is to enjoy creating new technology and perfecting his skills across all aspects of product engineering and leadership. Follow Dave on twitter @dedwards_tech.
